Airborne measurements of the size distribution of submicron aerosols over the Arabian Sea during ARMEX – Phase I

Airborne measurements of the concentration and size distribution submicron aerosols are made from 6 to 24 August 2002 over Arabian Sea during Monsoon Experiment (ARMEX). Results show that aerosol concentrations at 0.9 km altitude larger if mixing layer depth is more than this height. Further, values 5.1 – kms one three orders magnitude higher air mass being advected central or deserts in comparison when up northwest India. Aerosol distributions level bimodal trimodal with a maximum 133 nm accumulation mode minima 75 480 nm. Size tend become log-normal altitudes. suggest processes coagulation gravitational settling mainly determine evolution modal nature observed lower altitudes sea. Processes leading modification also discussed.
